Project Summary
Around Mumbai, many cancer patients are not properly taken care of. Most of them are elderly individuals without any family. In the Shanti Avedna centre, they receive proper treatment, regardless of their religion or caste. The hospice is unique in the region. Most of the patients are in the final stage of illness; many of them do not have the means for proper treatment to slow down the disease.
AMURT purchased pain killers and medical materials for the patients. It also offered training and counselling for the patients’ families to help them take care of their relatives.
