About AMURT
History
AMURT is an international organisation for disaster relief, rehabilitation and development co-operation. The guiding principle of AMURT is that a team of highly motivated volunteers can make an important difference to people’s suffering. The success of this idea inspired many thousands of young people in other countries of the world to help in the same efficient and non-bureaucratic way.
AMURT was founded in Switzerland in 1985. In 2002, the national AMURT organisations of Switzerland. The head office is in Uster, Switzerland. The aim of AMURT (International) is to improve the quality of services to people in need, to build a platform on which to present AMURT at the international level and to reduce administrative costs.
The aims and objectives of the Federation are exclusively charitable and not for profit. All projects, supported and implemented by AMURT (International), are community-based emphasising maximum participation of the local community in determining its own future.
Our mission
AMURT assists poor, underprivileged and marginalised communities to improve their quality of life, and to assist victims of natural and man-made disasters.
