How we are organised
AMURT International is a federation of its national AMURT associations. It was formed in 2002 in order to bring together different AMURT country teams, to promote cooperation between them, and thus to improve the quality of service to people in need.
The projects supported or managed by AMURT (International) Member Associations are located in Sudan, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, Congo Brazzaville, Moldova, Romania, Venezuela, Peru, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and India.
AMURT (International) is a democratic organization; all member associations send one representative to the General Assembly and, similarly, each member has one vote.
The aims and objectives of the Federation are exclusively charitable and not for profit and are achieved in particular by:
- Representing national AMURT organizations internationally;
- Promoting cooperation between the various national AMURT organizations;
- Promoting the establishment of further national AMURT organizations in other countries and supporting their development;
- Supporting new national AMURT organizations and Federation members in their endeavors to initiate and manage humanitarian projects and to raise funds;
- Drawing up management and project quality standards in accordance with AMURT’s principles;
- Coordinating fundraising for projects planned by Federation members which meet these quality standards;
- Collaborating with other national or international associations with the same or similar aims and objectives as AMURT (International);
- Carrying out project evaluations for projects implemented by Federation members and promoting evaluations by other national AMURT organizations which are not members of AMURT (International);
- Coordinating relief efforts by Federation members and promoting readiness on their part to respond or to prevent disasters themselves at local level;
- Engaging in other activities that serve the achievement of the above-mentioned aims and objectives or are related to them.
The Association AMURT International is made up of the following organs:
- General Assembly;
- Executive Committee;
- Central Office;
- Audit body.
The Articles of Association stipulate the Regulations and procedures with regard to the a) Aim of the Association; b) Membership; c) Voting and elections at the General Assembly; d) Executive Committee; e) Central Office; f) Audit body; g) President; h) Funding; i) Circular resolutions, language; j) Governing law, place of jurisdiction and k) Dissolution of the Association.
The General Assembly should meet at least once a year, the Executive Committee assembles for ordinary meetings at least twice a year, the Central Office is the implementing organ of the Executive Committee and the Audit Body must be qualified for its role and possess appropriate experience. It must be independent of the organs of the Association.
Board members of Member Associations and International Branches of AMURT International should comply with the Regulations of their respective Articles of Associations with regards to accountability, meetings and processes.
